5. Cleaning
Proper cleaning of your Nutmat machine is essential to ensure the quality of the products it dispenses. We advise replacing nuts that have not been sold within their recommended timeframe, and performing a thorough machine cleaning every 2-4 weeks, with the frequency adjusted based on the specific type of nuts. It's essential always to adhere to the best-used-before dates provided by the nut producers.
Before performing any maintenance or cleaning, turn off the power and unplug the machine. Follow these steps to clean your machine, and make sure to adhere to the guidelines for a safe and effective cleaning process:
5.1 Emptying the Nutmat: Start by opening the top lid and back cover using the provided key sets. Empty the machine of nuts.
- If only a small quantity of nuts remains, you can use the provided prepaid test card to run the machine a number of times needed until it empties of the product.
- If a large quantity of nuts is inside, carefully turn the machine upside down to empty it.
5.2 Acrylic Container Removal: Unscrew the four bolts that secure the acrylic container in place. Use a regular Phillips PH2 screwdriver on the outside and a regular 7mm wrench on the inside.
WARNING: Be extremely careful not to lose any bolt nuts or washers during this process. If any fall into the mechanism, ensure they are removed to prevent damage to the machine or potential harm to customers.
5.3 Container and Guide Cleaning: Remove the two plastic guides from the Nutmat and wash them, along with the acrylic containers, using warm water and mild detergents.
Note: Avoid using alcohol or strong chemicals as they can damage the acrylic containers. Never use abrasives or scrubbing tools, as they can degrade the glossy surface of the container.
5.4 Interior Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the machine's interior, including the metal parts, using a pointy vacuum cleaner and a damp cloth with a mild detergent safe for kitchen use.
5.5 Cleaning Stainless Steel Cylinders: Every 60 days, disassemble the two stainless steel cylinders for a more comprehensive cleaning:
5.5.1 Remove the four M4 bolts and washers securing the cylinders in place.
5.5.2 Unplug the heater connectors and pull the cable outside.
5.5.3 Lift the two cylinders and remove them from the rest of the machine.
5.5.4 Clean both the cylinders and the rest of the machine thoroughly.
5.5.5 Reassemble the two cylinders in place, ensuring you use washers with every bolt to prevent them from unscrewing due to vibrations during Nutmat use.
5.6 Reassemble Acrylic Guides and Containers: Put the two acrylic guides back in their positions. Next, put the acrylic containers back in place and secure them with the corresponding bolts and washers.
WARNING: Always use the original stainless steel bolts and washers, and be sure to employ nylon locking nuts when securing the acrylic containers, as regular nuts may gradually loosen due to vibrations during Nutmat operation. Exercise care to prevent over-tightening of the bolts, as excessive force can potentially lead to acrylic container breakage.
5.7 Back Cover: Close the back cover and lock it in place.
5.8 Ready for Use: Your Nutmat is now ready to be refilled and used again.
